Harrods Pour Homme
Harrods Pour Homme by Roja Parfums is a masculine-leaning parfum in the luxury price tier. It opens with lemon, bergamot, lime, sweet orange, bitter orange and litsea cubeba, moves into geranium, rose de mai, neroli, jasmine, ylang-ylang and violet and dries down to galbanum, patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, juniper berry and cashmere wood. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Lime Sharper and greener than lemon. Reads a bit tropical, a bit barbershop.
- Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
- Bitter Orange Marmalade without the sugar. Sour and slightly medicinal.
- Litsea Cubeba Also called May Chang. Sharp, lemon-sherbet brightness from a small peppery berry.
Heart
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Rose de Mai Softer, honeyed May rose. Expensive and unmistakably natural.
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Ylang-Ylang Banana-custard floral. Rich, tropical and slightly rubbery.
- Violet Powdery, sweet and a bit retro. Parma Violets in flower form.
Dry-down
- Galbanum Intensely green resin. Smells like snapping a plant stem in half.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Juniper Berry Gin, basically. Piney, dry and bracing.
- Cashmere Wood Soft, fuzzy, slightly musky wood. Adds a blurred warmth.
