Bandit
Bandit by Robert Piguet is a feminine-leaning eau de parfum from 1944 in the premium price tier. It opens with galbanum, artemisia, bergamot and neroli, moves into jasmine, rose, tuberose and ylang-ylang and dries down to leather, oakmoss, patchouli, vetiver and musk. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Galbanum Intensely green resin. Smells like snapping a plant stem in half.
- Artemisia Bitter and silvery-herbal. Wormwood, the backbone of a fougère.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
Heart
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Tuberose Creamy, waxy and enormous. The loudest white flower.
- Ylang-Ylang Banana-custard floral. Rich, tropical and slightly rubbery.
Dry-down
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
