Vetiver
Vetiver by Floris is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with bergamot, lavender and lemon, moves into cinnamon, clove, coriander, geranium and vetiver and dries down to amber, frankincense, patchouli, sandalwood and tonka bean. Expect around 5 hours of wear, and it projects softly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
Heart
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Clove Hot, dry and dental. Powerful — a little goes a long way.
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
Dry-down
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Frankincense Bright, peppery, church-like resin. Lifts and cools a fragrance.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
