Musc Ravageur
Musc Ravageur by Frédéric Malle is an unisex eau de parfum from 2000 in the luxury price tier. It opens with bergamot, mandarin and lavender, moves into cinnamon and clove and dries down to musk, vanilla, sandalwood and amber. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
Heart
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Clove Hot, dry and dental. Powerful — a little goes a long way.
Dry-down
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
