The Tux
The Tux by Maison Alhambra is a masculine-leaning eau de parfum from 2022 in the budget price tier. It opens with grapefruit, cinnamon and cardamom, moves into lavender and licorice and dries down to sandalwood, patchouli and haitian vetiver. Expect around 9 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
An affordable take on Dior Sauvage Elixir.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
Heart
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Licorice Sweet anise with a dark, salty edge. Divisive and distinctive.
Dry-down
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Haitian Vetiver Cleaner, smokier vetiver with a grapefruit lift. Less earthy than Javan.
