The Key
The Key by Navitus Parfums is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with bergamot, lemon and grapefruit, moves into gin and ginger and dries down to tonka bean, sandalwood, haitian vetiver and patchouli. Expect around 9 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
Heart
- Gin Juniper and citrus peel with an alcoholic sting.
- Ginger Warm, zesty and slightly soapy. Bridges citrus and spice.
Dry-down
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Haitian Vetiver Cleaner, smokier vetiver with a grapefruit lift. Less earthy than Javan.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
