Sauvage Elixir
Sauvage Elixir by Dior is a masculine-leaning elixir from 2021 in the premium price tier. It opens with grapefruit, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom, moves into lavender and dries down to licorice, sandalwood, patchouli and haitian vetiver. Expect around 12 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
Heart
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
Dry-down
- Licorice Sweet anise with a dark, salty edge. Divisive and distinctive.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Haitian Vetiver Cleaner, smokier vetiver with a grapefruit lift. Less earthy than Javan.
