Jaipur Homme
Jaipur Homme by Boucheron is a masculine-leaning eau de toilette from 1998 in the designer price tier. It opens with bergamot, cardamom, coriander and plum, moves into carnation, cinnamon, rose and jasmine and dries down to sandalwood, amber, vanilla and cedarwood. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
- Plum Dark, wine-like and slightly stewed. Autumnal.
Heart
- Carnation Spicy, clove-like floral. Old-school and a bit peppery.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
Dry-down
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
