Sacrebleu
Sacrebleu by Parfums de Nicolaï is an unisex eau de parfum in the premium price tier. It opens with bergamot, mandarin and red berries, moves into tuberose, jasmine, carnation, cinnamon and coriander and dries down to vanilla, tonka bean, benzoin, sandalwood and amber. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Red Berries Generic jammy berry blend. Bright, sweet and crowd-pleasing.
Heart
- Tuberose Creamy, waxy and enormous. The loudest white flower.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Carnation Spicy, clove-like floral. Old-school and a bit peppery.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
Dry-down
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
- Benzoin Sweet balsamic resin. Vanilla-adjacent but drier.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
