Scent Hub — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This explains what Scent Hub collects, why, and who else sees it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

What we collect
Your account. An email address and a username. The email is how you sign in and how we reach you about your account.
What you put in the app. Fragrances you save, wears you log with their compliment counts, reviews, follows, and any photos you post. This is the app — none of it is collected in the background.
Your approximate location, only when you ask for it. Tapping "Ask the stylist" sends your coordinates to our server, which asks a weather service for the forecast so the advice matches the weather where you actually are. It is used for that one request and is never stored. Say no and the stylist still works; it just says it cannot see the weather.
Photos you choose. Only the specific photo you pick to post. The app cannot see your camera roll.
Camera images while scanning. A photo of a bottle label is sent for text recognition and then discarded. Scans are not stored.
What we do not collect
No advertising identifiers. No tracking across other apps or websites. No contact list. The website counts visits and page views in aggregate, using the service named below; nothing else about how you use Scent Hub is tracked, and the app itself has no analytics. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with data brokers.
Who else sees your data
- Supabase hosts the database, accounts and uploaded photos. Like any host, it and Netlify (which serves the website) keep standard server logs, which include IP addresses.
- Cloudflare counts visits to the website with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It receives each page view and general information such as the page, the site you came from and your type of browser, and gives us totals: how many people visit and which pages they read. We use it only for that. It is not used for advertising and we do not link it to your account. How Cloudflare handles this data is in its own policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Anthropic processes stylist requests and bottle scans. Requests carry the fragrances in your collection, your taste answers from the quiz, where you are heading and, if you allowed it, the current weather; a scan carries the photo you took. They are not used to train models. The app asks your permission before the first stylist answer or scan, and you can switch it off at any time in About; after that nothing is sent until you say yes again.
- Open-Meteo receives approximate coordinates, from our server, to return a forecast. No account or identifier is attached.
- RevenueCat handles subscriptions if you buy one. It receives your account id and the purchase itself, so the app knows what you paid for. It never sees your card — Apple handles payment, and neither we nor RevenueCat are given the number.
- Open Beauty Facts provided some catalogue reference data. It receives nothing about you.
What other people see
Your username, display name, bio, reviews, posts and follower counts are public to anyone using the app.
Wear logs are private unless you mark them public. Compliment counts feed a fragrance's average whether or not the wear is public, but the average never reveals who logged what.
Public wear logs also feed breakdowns of where and when a fragrance gets compliments, such as on a date or in winter. A breakdown only appears once at least three wears from at least two different people are in it, and it shows totals, never who logged what. Private wears are never counted in it.
Your email is never shown to other users.
Reporting and blocking
You can report any post or person from the app, and block someone so their content disappears from your feed. Blocking is one-directional and silent — they are not told. Reports go to the address at the top of this page and are reviewed by a person.
Subscriptions
Premium is a subscription billed by Apple, not by us. Cancel it in your Apple ID settings; cancelling stops the renewal and access runs to the end of the period you already paid for. Refunds are Apple's to give — we cannot issue them.
We keep a record of each purchase (product, date, expiry) for as long as you have an account. It is what proves you paid if access ever goes wrong, and what we would need in a billing dispute.
Your choices
- Location and photo access can be revoked any time in iOS Settings.
- Delete anything you posted from within the app.
- Delete your account in the app: About → Your account → Delete my account. It is immediate and it is not reversible. Your profile, posts, photos, reviews, wear logs, collection and followers all go. Two things deliberately survive: compliment counts already folded into a fragrance's public average, because they are anonymous and cannot be traced back to you, and any report another person filed about your posts, which is kept with your name removed so the moderation record holds.
- Ask what we hold on you at the same address.
Children
Scent Hub is not intended for under-13s and we do not knowingly collect their data. If a child's account exists, email us and it will be removed.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Database access is governed by row-level security, so one account cannot read another's private data. No system is perfect, and we will not claim otherwise.
Changes
Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
