Lovebird
Lovebird by Zoologist is an unisex extrait de parfum from 2026 in the niche price tier. It opens with kiwi, bergamot, sweet orange, blackcurrant, mint and lavender, moves into passionfruit, ylang-ylang, geranium, lily of the valley and heliotrope and dries down to amber, virginia cedarwood, oakmoss, vanilla, ambrette seed and musk. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Kiwi Tart, green and juicy. Sharp without being citrus.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
- Blackcurrant Tart, dark and slightly catty. Adds bite to florals.
- Mint Cold and tingly. Great in small doses, toothpaste in large ones.
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
Heart
- Passionfruit Sharp, tropical and slightly sulphurous. Vivid and modern.
- Ylang-Ylang Banana-custard floral. Rich, tropical and slightly rubbery.
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Lily of the Valley Clean, green, dewy floral. Reads as 'fresh laundry' to most people.
- Heliotrope Almond, vanilla and powder. Smells like marzipan and old-fashioned makeup.
Dry-down
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Virginia Cedarwood The pencil-shaving one specifically. Dry, sharp and slightly sweet.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Ambrette Seed The only natural musk. Pear-like, warm and slightly boozy.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
