Dancing Light
Dancing Light by Olfactive Studio is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with pine, mint, cardamom, fig and pink pepper, moves into jasmine, neroli, freesia and lavender and dries down to sandalwood, virginia cedarwood, amber, musk and oakmoss. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Pine Sappy and bracing. Straightforwardly outdoorsy.
- Mint Cold and tingly. Great in small doses, toothpaste in large ones.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Fig Green, milky and jammy at once. One of the most interesting fruits in perfume.
- Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
Heart
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
- Freesia Crisp, slightly peppery floral. Clean and a bit synthetic in a good way.
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
Dry-down
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Virginia Cedarwood The pencil-shaving one specifically. Dry, sharp and slightly sweet.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
