Erba Gold

Erba Gold by Xerjoff is an unisex eau de parfum from 2019 in the luxury price tier. It opens with sweet orange, bergamot, lemon and ginger, moves into pear, melon, cinnamon, cardamom, green apple and clove and dries down to white musk, amber and vanilla. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.

Opening

Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
Ginger Warm, zesty and slightly soapy. Bridges citrus and spice.

Heart

Pear Crisp, watery and green-sweet. Clean and modern.
Melon Soft, watery sweetness. Often paired with aquatics.
Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
Green Apple Tart, crunchy and sharp. Cleaner and cooler than red apple.
Clove Hot, dry and dental. Powerful — a little goes a long way.

Dry-down

White Musk Clean, soft, laundry-like. The 'smells like nothing but better' note.
Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
