Sultanate of Oman
Sultanate of Oman by Roja Parfums is an unisex parfum in the luxury price tier. It opens with grapefruit and sweet orange, moves into rose de mai, jasmine, violet and raspberry and dries down to cardamom, elemi, saffron, gurjun balsam, papyrus and oakmoss. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
- Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
Heart
- Rose de Mai Softer, honeyed May rose. Expensive and unmistakably natural.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Violet Powdery, sweet and a bit retro. Parma Violets in flower form.
- Raspberry Tart, jammy and slightly fuzzy. Very popular in modern sweet scents.
Dry-down
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Elemi Peppery resin with a lemon-pine lift. Bright and dry.
- Saffron Leathery, medicinal and slightly metallic. The signature of modern niche.
- Gurjun Balsam A woody resin from Southeast Asia. Smooth, faintly peppery, and it helps a scent last.
- Papyrus Dry, smoky, papery wood. Vetiver's quieter cousin.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
