Madison Pour Homme
Madison Pour Homme by Roja Parfums is a masculine-leaning parfum in the luxury price tier. It opens with aldehydes, lemon, bergamot, grapefruit, lime and mandarin, moves into cyclamen, geranium, rose de mai and orange blossom and dries down to cardamom, elemi, pink pepper, patchouli, oakmoss and vetiver. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Aldehydes Fizzy, soapy, slightly waxy. The 'sparkle' at the top of Chanel No. 5.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
- Lime Sharper and greener than lemon. Reads a bit tropical, a bit barbershop.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
Heart
- Cyclamen Watery, green and airy. Used to make florals feel light.
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Rose de Mai Softer, honeyed May rose. Expensive and unmistakably natural.
- Orange Blossom Sweet, soapy and sunny. Neroli's warmer sibling.
Dry-down
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Elemi Peppery resin with a lemon-pine lift. Bright and dry.
- Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
