Aoud Sense

Aoud Sense by Montale is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with bergamot, mandarin, sweet orange, clove and black pepper, moves into rose and patchouli and dries down to amber, oakmoss, oud, sandalwood, vetiver and white musk. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.

Opening

Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
Clove Hot, dry and dental. Powerful — a little goes a long way.
Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.

Heart

Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.

Dry-down

Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
White Musk Clean, soft, laundry-like. The 'smells like nothing but better' note.
