Pistachio Cousin
Pistachio Cousin by Liquides Imaginaires is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with pistachio, bergamot, lemon, elemi, sweet orange and incense, moves into lemon, petitgrain and neroli and dries down to cypriol, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood and akigalawood. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Pistachio Green, salty and creamy. Nutty without being heavy.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Elemi Peppery resin with a lemon-pine lift. Bright and dry.
- Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
- Incense Smoky, dry and meditative. Adds gravity to anything.
Heart
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Petitgrain Bitter twigs and leaves of the orange tree. Dry and a little green.
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
Dry-down
- Cypriol Also called nagarmotha. Smoky, leathery, earthy — a vetiver relative.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Akigalawood Patchouli with the earth taken out. Peppery, lightly spiced dry wood that makes a base feel expensive.
