Vodka on the Rocks
Vodka on the Rocks by Kilian is an unisex eau de parfum from 2014 in the luxury price tier. It opens with cardamom, coriander and aldehydes, moves into lily of the valley, rhubarb and rose and dries down to oakmoss and sandalwood. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects softly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
- Aldehydes Fizzy, soapy, slightly waxy. The 'sparkle' at the top of Chanel No. 5.
Heart
- Lily of the Valley Clean, green, dewy floral. Reads as 'fresh laundry' to most people.
- Rhubarb Tart, pink and green at once. Sour fruit with a stalky edge.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Dry-down
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
Smells like this
- Houbigant Quelques Fleurs L'Original
- Paco Rabanne Calandre
- Clinique Calyx
- Etat Libre d'Orange Exit the King
- Balmain Vent Vert
- Estée Lauder Knowing
