Eau d’Orange Verte
Eau d’Orange Verte by Hermès is an unisex eau de cologne from 1979 in the premium price tier. It opens with sweet orange, lemon and mint, moves into mandarin and blackcurrant and dries down to oakmoss, patchouli and white musk. Expect around 4 hours of wear, and it projects softly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Mint Cold and tingly. Great in small doses, toothpaste in large ones.
Heart
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Blackcurrant Tart, dark and slightly catty. Adds bite to florals.
Dry-down
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- White Musk Clean, soft, laundry-like. The 'smells like nothing but better' note.
