Insolence
Insolence by Guerlain is a feminine-leaning eau de toilette from 2006 in the designer price tier. It opens with red berries and bergamot, moves into violet, iris and rose and dries down to vanilla, tonka bean, benzoin and sandalwood. Expect around 7 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Red Berries Generic jammy berry blend. Bright, sweet and crowd-pleasing.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
Heart

- Iris Cool, powdery, slightly carroty and expensive. The luxury note.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Dry-down
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
