Chypress by Floris is a feminine-leaning eau de toilette from 2017 in the niche price tier. It opens with bergamot, lemon, orange blossom and neroli, moves into jasmine, rose, osmanthus and ylang-ylang and dries down to amber, vanilla, musk and patchouli. Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.

Heart

Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Osmanthus Apricot-and-leather floral. Unusual, warm and very wearable.
Ylang-Ylang Banana-custard floral. Rich, tropical and slightly rubbery.

Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
