Escentric 03 by Escentric Molecules is an unisex eau de toilette in the premium price tier. It opens with lime, mandarin, pink pepper, black pepper and ginger, moves into freesia, rose, jasmine, iris, cinnamon and tonka bean and dries down to vetiver, sandalwood, iso e super, leather, muscone and amber. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects softly.

Notes, explained

Opening

Lime Sharper and greener than lemon. Reads a bit tropical, a bit barbershop.
Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
Ginger Warm, zesty and slightly soapy. Bridges citrus and spice.

Heart

Freesia Crisp, slightly peppery floral. Clean and a bit synthetic in a good way.
Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
Iris Cool, powdery, slightly carroty and expensive. The luxury note.
Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.

Dry-down

Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
Iso E Super Velvety, transparent wood that fades in and out. Half the market runs on it.
Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
Muscone Rich, warm, powdery musk. Rounder than the white musks.
Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
