Fahrenheit
Fahrenheit by Dior is a masculine-leaning eau de toilette from 1988 in the designer price tier. It opens with mandarin, lemon and bergamot, moves into violet leaf, nutmeg and honeysuckle and dries down to leather, vetiver, patchouli and tonka bean. Expect around 9 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
Heart
- Violet Leaf Crisp, watery green with a metallic edge. Cool rather than fresh.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
- Honeysuckle Sweet, nectar-like and slightly green. Summer hedgerow.
Dry-down
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
Smells like this
- Guerlain Chamade
- Floraïku Here Comes The Light
- Masque Milano (Homage to) Hemingway
- Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Sport
