Venice Rococo
Venice Rococo by Arquiste is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with chamomile, rose, hawthorn and aldehydes, moves into powdery notes, orange blossom, violet and cumin and dries down to amber, iris, civet and jasmine. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Chamomile Herbal, apple-like and calming. Quiet and a bit hay-ish.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Hawthorn Almondy white blossom. Slightly powdery and hedgerow-like.
- Aldehydes Fizzy, soapy, slightly waxy. The 'sparkle' at the top of Chanel No. 5.
Heart
- Powdery Notes Soft, dusty and cosmetic. The feel of face powder more than any one flower.
- Orange Blossom Sweet, soapy and sunny. Neroli's warmer sibling.
- Violet Powdery, sweet and a bit retro. Parma Violets in flower form.
- Cumin Warm, spicy and unmistakably sweaty. Divides rooms.
Dry-down
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Iris Cool, powdery, slightly carroty and expensive. The luxury note.
- Civet Sharp, faecal and intense on its own. In trace amounts it makes florals glow.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
