Zafferano
Zafferano by Acqua di Parma is an unisex eau de parfum in the premium price tier. It opens with mandarin, bergamot, coriander and sweet orange, moves into sambac jasmine, geranium, rose, saffron and orange blossom and dries down to vanilla, tonka bean and patchouli. Expect around 7 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
- Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
Heart
- Sambac Jasmine Greener, more tea-like jasmine. Less indolic than grandiflorum.
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Saffron Leathery, medicinal and slightly metallic. The signature of modern niche.
- Orange Blossom Sweet, soapy and sunny. Neroli's warmer sibling.
Dry-down
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
