Elephant (Sanctuary Edition)
Elephant (Sanctuary Edition) by Zoologist is an unisex extrait de parfum from 2026 in the niche price tier. It opens with black tea, mate, pink pepper, cardamom and nutmeg, moves into jasmine, tuberose, osmanthus and rose and dries down to sandalwood, cypriol and orris root. Expect around 9 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Black Tea Dry, tannic and smoky. More astringent than green tea.
- Mate Dry, smoky, bitter green tea. Toasted rather than fresh.
- Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
Heart
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Tuberose Creamy, waxy and enormous. The loudest white flower.
- Osmanthus Apricot-and-leather floral. Unusual, warm and very wearable.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Dry-down
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Cypriol Also called nagarmotha. Smoky, leathery, earthy — a vetiver relative.
- Orris Root Iris root aged for years. Buttery, powdery, unmistakably refined.
