Fleurissimo
Fleurissimo by Creed is a feminine-leaning eau de parfum from 1956 in the luxury price tier. It opens with mandarin, violet leaf and bergamot, moves into tuberose, jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang and neroli and dries down to orris root, sandalwood and cedarwood. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects softly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Violet Leaf Crisp, watery green with a metallic edge. Cool rather than fresh.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
Heart
- Tuberose Creamy, waxy and enormous. The loudest white flower.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Ylang-Ylang Banana-custard floral. Rich, tropical and slightly rubbery.
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
Dry-down
- Orris Root Iris root aged for years. Buttery, powdery, unmistakably refined.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
