Opera by Xerjoff is an unisex eau de parfum in the luxury price tier. It opens with rose, moves into leather, amber, nutmeg and ylang-ylang and dries down to virginia cedarwood, haitian vetiver, musk, patchouli and vanilla. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.

Opening
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Heart
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
- Ylang-Ylang Banana-custard floral. Rich, tropical and slightly rubbery.
Dry-down
- Virginia Cedarwood The pencil-shaving one specifically. Dry, sharp and slightly sweet.
- Haitian Vetiver Cleaner, smokier vetiver with a grapefruit lift. Less earthy than Javan.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
