Spicebomb
Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf is a masculine-leaning eau de toilette from 2012 in the designer price tier. It opens with bergamot, grapefruit and pimento, moves into cinnamon, saffron and paprika and dries down to tobacco, leather and vetiver. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
- Pimento Allspice — clove, cinnamon and nutmeg at once. Hot and rounded.
Heart
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Saffron Leathery, medicinal and slightly metallic. The signature of modern niche.
- Paprika Warm, dusty red spice. Adds heat without sharpness.
Dry-down
- Tobacco Sweet, dried and honeyed. Nothing like a cigarette.
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
