Porpora
Porpora by Tiziana Terenzi is an unisex extrait de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with rose, raspberry, cinnamon and clove, moves into bulgarian rose, poppy, incense and patchouli and dries down to chestnut, benzoin, amber, musk and myrrh. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Raspberry Tart, jammy and slightly fuzzy. Very popular in modern sweet scents.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Clove Hot, dry and dental. Powerful — a little goes a long way.
Heart
- Bulgarian Rose Fresh, dewy and green. The 'real rose garden' version.
- Poppy Soft, powdery and faintly green. Poppy barely smells in nature, so perfumers build an impression of it.
- Incense Smoky, dry and meditative. Adds gravity to anything.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
Dry-down
- Chestnut Roasted, starchy and faintly sweet. Autumnal and comforting.
- Benzoin Sweet balsamic resin. Vanilla-adjacent but drier.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Myrrh Bitter, smoky resin. Ancient-smelling and slightly cool.
