L'Air du Désert Marocain
L'Air du Désert Marocain by Tauer Perfumes is an unisex eau de toilette from 2005 in the niche price tier. It opens with coriander, petitgrain and cumin, moves into rose, jasmine and incense and dries down to ambergris, cedarwood, vetiver and labdanum. Expect around 11 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
- Petitgrain Bitter twigs and leaves of the orange tree. Dry and a little green.
- Cumin Warm, spicy and unmistakably sweaty. Divides rooms.
Heart
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Incense Smoky, dry and meditative. Adds gravity to anything.
Dry-down
- Ambergris Salty, animal, sun-warmed skin. Marine and musky at once.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
