Cologne du Maghreb
Cologne du Maghreb by Tauer Perfumes is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with mandarin, clementine, petitgrain, rosemary, clary sage and litsea cubeba, moves into neroli, orange blossom, geranium and rose and dries down to labdanum, cedarwood and vetiver. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Clementine Small, sweet and a bit candied. Very easy to wear.
- Petitgrain Bitter twigs and leaves of the orange tree. Dry and a little green.
- Rosemary Sharp, camphorous herb. Bracing and clean, borders on medicinal.
- Clary Sage Softer, sweeter sage with an ambery undertone. Warm and herbal.
- Litsea Cubeba Also called May Chang. Sharp, lemon-sherbet brightness from a small peppery berry.
Heart
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
- Orange Blossom Sweet, soapy and sunny. Neroli's warmer sibling.
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Dry-down
- Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
