Favonius
Favonius by Nishane is an unisex extrait de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with bergamot, pink pepper and incense, moves into geranium, cypriol, rose, artemisia and clary sage and dries down to oud, cedarwood, patchouli and sandalwood. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
- Incense Smoky, dry and meditative. Adds gravity to anything.
Heart
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Cypriol Also called nagarmotha. Smoky, leathery, earthy — a vetiver relative.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Artemisia Bitter and silvery-herbal. Wormwood, the backbone of a fougère.
- Clary Sage Softer, sweeter sage with an ambery undertone. Warm and herbal.
Dry-down
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
