Oud Edition

Oud Edition by Montale is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with pink pepper, black pepper, incense and bergamot, moves into patchouli, leather, oud and rose and dries down to labdanum, sandalwood, vanilla and white musk. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.

Opening

Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
Incense Smoky, dry and meditative. Adds gravity to anything.
Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.

Heart

Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.

Dry-down

Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
White Musk Clean, soft, laundry-like. The 'smells like nothing but better' note.
