Aoud Forest by Montale is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with nutmeg, lemon and rhubarb, moves into rose, violet and ginger and dries down to cedarwood, oakmoss, patchouli, musk and oud. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.

Opening
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Rhubarb Tart, pink and green at once. Sour fruit with a stalky edge.
Heart
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Violet Powdery, sweet and a bit retro. Parma Violets in flower form.
- Ginger Warm, zesty and slightly soapy. Bridges citrus and spice.
Dry-down
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
