Salvo
Salvo by Maison Alhambra is a masculine-leaning eau de parfum from 2021 in the budget price tier. It opens with bergamot and black pepper, moves into lavender, sichuan pepper and geranium and dries down to ambroxan, cedarwood and labdanum. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
An affordable take on Dior Sauvage.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
Heart
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Sichuan Pepper Buzzy, citrus-tinged pepper. Tingles rather than burns.
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
Dry-down
- Ambroxan Clean, mineral, skin-like warmth. The engine behind most modern 'beast mode' scents.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
