Sauvage
Sauvage by Dior is a masculine-leaning eau de toilette from 2015 in the designer price tier. It opens with bergamot and pink pepper, moves into sichuan pepper, lavender, geranium and elemi and dries down to ambroxan, cedarwood and labdanum. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
Heart
- Sichuan Pepper Buzzy, citrus-tinged pepper. Tingles rather than burns.
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Elemi Peppery resin with a lemon-pine lift. Bright and dry.
Dry-down
- Ambroxan Clean, mineral, skin-like warmth. The engine behind most modern 'beast mode' scents.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
