Sareef
Sareef by Kajal is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with bergamot, lemon and juniper berry, moves into cedarwood, tarragon, nutmeg, cashmeran and leather and dries down to patchouli, vetiver, amber, vanilla and oud. Expect around 9 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Juniper Berry Gin, basically. Piney, dry and bracing.
Heart
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Tarragon Anise-tinged and green. Adds a herbal lift to barbershop scents.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
- Cashmeran Musky, woody and slightly spicy. Velvety and very persistent.
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
Dry-down
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
