Acqua di Gio Absolu
Acqua di Gio Absolu by Giorgio Armani is a masculine-leaning eau de parfum from 2018 in the designer price tier. It opens with bergamot, mandarin and marine accord, moves into rosemary, sage and nutmeg and dries down to patchouli, vetiver and tonka bean. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Marine Accord Generic 'ocean' — salt, air and water. Clean and uncomplicated.
Heart
- Rosemary Sharp, camphorous herb. Bracing and clean, borders on medicinal.
- Sage Dry, herbal and slightly bitter. Adds a grown-up, aromatic edge.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
Dry-down
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
