London Spice
London Spice by Fragrance Du Bois is an unisex eau de parfum in the luxury price tier. It opens with lemon, bergamot and spearmint, moves into lavender, jasmine, white flowers and marine accord and dries down to patchouli, cedarwood, nutmeg and cardamom. Expect around 9 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Spearmint Softer, sweeter mint. Less medicinal than peppermint.
Heart
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- White Flowers A blend of creamy white petals rather than one named flower.
- Marine Accord Generic 'ocean' — salt, air and water. Clean and uncomplicated.
Dry-down
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
