Viking
Viking by Creed is a masculine-leaning eau de parfum from 2017 in the luxury price tier. It opens with bergamot, lemon and peppermint, moves into pink pepper, lavender and rose and dries down to sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Peppermint Icy and sharp. Reads clean but can tip into chewing gum.
Heart
- Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Dry-down
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
