Original Vetiver
Original Vetiver by Creed is a masculine-leaning eau de parfum from 2004 in the luxury price tier. It opens with bergamot, mandarin and ginger, moves into haitian vetiver and amyris and dries down to sandalwood, ambergris and white musk. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Ginger Warm, zesty and slightly soapy. Bridges citrus and spice.
Heart
- Haitian Vetiver Cleaner, smokier vetiver with a grapefruit lift. Less earthy than Javan.
- Amyris Soft, sweet, sandalwood-adjacent. Often stands in for the real thing.
Dry-down
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Ambergris Salty, animal, sun-warmed skin. Marine and musky at once.
- White Musk Clean, soft, laundry-like. The 'smells like nothing but better' note.
