Himalaya
Himalaya by Creed is a masculine-leaning eau de parfum from 2002 in the luxury price tier. It opens with bergamot, grapefruit and lemon, moves into sandalwood, cedarwood and nutmeg and dries down to white musk, ambergris and vetiver. Expect around 7 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
Heart
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
Dry-down
- White Musk Clean, soft, laundry-like. The 'smells like nothing but better' note.
- Ambergris Salty, animal, sun-warmed skin. Marine and musky at once.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
