Casmir
Casmir by Chopard is a feminine-leaning eau de parfum from 1991 in the designer price tier. It opens with coconut, mango, blackcurrant and bergamot, moves into vanilla, jasmine, rose and ylang-ylang and dries down to sandalwood, amber, tonka bean and musk. Expect around 11 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Coconut Creamy and tropical. Suncream in the best possible way.
- Mango Thick, sweet and tropical. Creamy rather than sharp.
- Blackcurrant Tart, dark and slightly catty. Adds bite to florals.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
Heart
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Ylang-Ylang Banana-custard floral. Rich, tropical and slightly rubbery.
Dry-down
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
