Boy
Boy by Chanel is an unisex eau de parfum from 2016 in the luxury price tier. It opens with lavender, lemon, bergamot and neroli, moves into geranium, rose and orange blossom and dries down to coumarin, sandalwood and musk. Expect around 7 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
Heart
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Orange Blossom Sweet, soapy and sunny. Neroli's warmer sibling.
Dry-down
- Coumarin Hay, almond and vanilla in one molecule. The heart of every fougère.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
