Purple Stain
Purple Stain by BORNTOSTANDOUT is an unisex extrait de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with saffron, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, mandarin and bergamot, moves into orange blossom, caramel, peru balsam and vanilla and dries down to akigalawood, oud, patchouli, cypriol, ambroxan and labdanum. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Saffron Leathery, medicinal and slightly metallic. The signature of modern niche.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
- Ginger Warm, zesty and slightly soapy. Bridges citrus and spice.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
Heart
- Orange Blossom Sweet, soapy and sunny. Neroli's warmer sibling.
- Caramel Burnt sugar. Rich, sticky and unapologetically sweet.
- Peru Balsam Vanilla and cinnamon resin. Deep and syrupy.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
Dry-down
- Akigalawood Patchouli with the earth taken out. Peppery, lightly spiced dry wood that makes a base feel expensive.
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Cypriol Also called nagarmotha. Smoky, leathery, earthy — a vetiver relative.
- Ambroxan Clean, mineral, skin-like warmth. The engine behind most modern 'beast mode' scents.
- Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
