Honour Woman
Honour Woman by Amouage is a feminine-leaning eau de parfum from 2011 in the luxury price tier. It opens with black pepper, rhubarb and coriander, moves into jasmine, tuberose, gardenia, lily of the valley and carnation and dries down to vetiver, frankincense, amber, opoponax and leather. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
- Rhubarb Tart, pink and green at once. Sour fruit with a stalky edge.
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
Heart
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Tuberose Creamy, waxy and enormous. The loudest white flower.
- Gardenia Creamy white floral with a mushroomy edge. Lush and old-Hollywood.
- Lily of the Valley Clean, green, dewy floral. Reads as 'fresh laundry' to most people.
- Carnation Spicy, clove-like floral. Old-school and a bit peppery.
Dry-down
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Frankincense Bright, peppery, church-like resin. Lifts and cools a fragrance.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Opoponax Sweet myrrh. Balsamic, warm and slightly medicinal.
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
