Historic Olmeda
Historic Olmeda by Afnan is an unisex eau de parfum in the budget price tier. It opens with pink pepper, cardamom, juniper berry and grapefruit, moves into bergamot, cedarwood, nutmeg and jasmine and dries down to patchouli, apple, ambergris and musk. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Juniper Berry Gin, basically. Piney, dry and bracing.
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
Heart
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
Dry-down
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Apple Crunchy and tart or soft and red, depending on the treatment.
- Ambergris Salty, animal, sun-warmed skin. Marine and musky at once.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
