Luxor
Luxor by Xerjoff is an unisex eau de parfum in the luxury price tier. It opens with cardamom, leather and cinnamon, moves into atlas cedar, myrrh, incense and tobacco and dries down to oud and patchouli. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
Heart
- Atlas Cedar Smoother, resinous cedar. Warmer than the Virginia type.
- Myrrh Bitter, smoky resin. Ancient-smelling and slightly cool.
- Incense Smoky, dry and meditative. Adds gravity to anything.
- Tobacco Sweet, dried and honeyed. Nothing like a cigarette.
Dry-down
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
Smells like this
- Swiss Arabian Dehn El Oud Shaheen
- Le Labo Oud 27
- Stellar Scents South
- Argos Perseus Triumphant
- Floraïku The Mountain Standing Still
- Tom Ford Tobacco Oud
