Chimilka
Chimilka by Vilhelm Parfumerie is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with peach, mandarin and cardamom, moves into leather, violet, saffron, oakmoss, immortelle and osmanthus and dries down to patchouli, amber, sugar and musk. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Peach Fuzzy, warm and slightly creamy. Soft rather than sharp.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
Heart
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Violet Powdery, sweet and a bit retro. Parma Violets in flower form.
- Saffron Leathery, medicinal and slightly metallic. The signature of modern niche.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Immortelle Maple syrup, curry and hay. Genuinely strange and very distinctive.
- Osmanthus Apricot-and-leather floral. Unusual, warm and very wearable.
Dry-down
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Sugar Plain sweetness. Usually there to round the edges off something else.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
